The Facts: Following up on the ongoing story. ... The Broncos have until Tuesday to match the offer sheet signed by Anderson with the Dolphins. It's still not clear what the Broncos will do.
Diehards Line:
As PFT's Mike Florio notes, common sense suggests that the Broncos will move on, given that with only a $2.5 million investment ($900,000 more than the tender the team offered), Denver could have locked him up by guaranteeing a second-round pick as compensation for grabbing him away. But maybe the Broncos simply wanted to let someone else negotiate Anderson's multi-year deal, allowing them to now choose between paying him $18 million over four years or letting him go. Whatever the thinking, the answer will be known in the next three days. Until then, the Broncos can use the uncertainty to explore their options with other running backs who are currently available in free agency. "Or," Florio added, "maybe coach Gary Kubiak will lobby for a trade that would bring Justin Forsett to Denver from Baltimore." We'll also remind you that another player Kubiak is familiar with, Arian Foster, is a free agent.
