The Facts: According to multiple reports, Dawson has signed a one-year contract that will keep him with the 49ers.
Diehards Line:
Dawson was voted by the team’s coaches as the winner of the Bill Walsh Award for team MVP last season. That says more about the way the 49ers season unfolded than about Dawson, although the kicker turned in another solid campaign in a career that stretches back to 1999. Dawson made 24-of-27 field goals and 20-of-21 extra points. Dawson hit all three of his field goal attempts from beyond 50 yards, but ceded kickoff duties to punter Bradley Pinion in an arrangement that will likely continue next season.
