The Facts: According to Tampa Bay Times staffer Rick Stroud, the Bucs are believed to be nearing a deal to keep Martin for around $6.85 million per year.

Martin, an unrestricted free agent, was said to want something closer to $8 million a year. And this far from a done deal. The Bucs can re-sign Martin at any time, but with Stroud reporting the Raiders and 49ers remain interested, this one could go all the way out to the start of the new league year, which officially begins at 4 p.m. eastern time. Indeed, FOXSports' Mike Garafolo is advising his Twitter followers there' still a ways to go for Martin and Bucs. "There's a gap to bridge," he wrote. ... We'll be watching for more. Stay tuned.
