The Facts: GM Trent Baalke believes Hyde will thrive in coach Chip Kelly's offense. "Ideal fit for Chip Kelly," Baalke said. "He's not game ready yet, but he's healing nicely and we look forward to having him full speed."
Diehards Line:
Hyde ended last season on injured reserve and had foot surgery, but the team expects him back for offseason work — he’s working with former teammate Frank Gore in Miami right now — and Baalke clearly has high hopes. Hyde ran for 470 yards and three touchdowns in seven games before the foot shut him down last season and had 333 yards and four scores as a rookie while Gore was the lead back. There should be plenty of carries available in Kelly’s offense and as PFT's Josh Alper suggests, if Baalke’s right about Hyde’s fit, Year 3 could see him top those totals with room to spare.
