The Facts: GM Rick Spielman told reporters that Bridgewater needs to be "letting it loose a little more."
Diehards Line:
Perhaps Spielman should make that sentiment clear to OC Norv Turner as well. As NFL.com noted, Bridgewater runs an offense based around the power running style of Adrian Peterson. As a result, the game is more about ball control and clock management. Still, we'd all like to see an improved passing attack. The Vikings were 26th in passing plays of 20 yards or more and 17th in passing plays of 40 yards or more last season. Turning it loose more could open things up a bit for Peterson and Spielman suggests that giving some guys a chance to make plays even though they may not look open might accelerate Bridgewater's development. We'll be watching for signs of it going forward.
