The Facts: The Eagles brought in a bevy of veteran kickers for workouts on Monday and Sturgis wound up with the job.
Diehards Line:
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Sturgis has been added to the roster to take the place of Cody Parkey, who heads to injured reserve. HC Chip Kelly said Monday that Parkey, who dealt with a groin injury recently, suffered a different injury to his leg before Sunday’s victory. Parkey made a field goal and three extra points despite the injury. Sturgis was the kicker in Miami the last two seasons, but lost his job to Andrew Franks this summer. Sturgis made 55-of-71 field goals with the Dolphins and connected on all 74 extra points. Nick Novak, Kai Forbath, Billy Cundiff and Shayne Graham were some of the other reported participants in Monday’s kicking derby.
