The Facts: Ertz was off the field for almost a month after having groin surgery during training camp, but he was able to return to practice last week. That seemed like a good sign for his chances of playing against the Falcons in the Eagles' Monday night opener and that feeling was confirmed on Monday afternoon. Ertz is on the 46-man active roster for the game and available to play a role on offense.
Diehards Line:
How big a role he’ll play remains to be seen. Brent Celek will start for the Eagles and Trey Burton backed him up while Ertz was out of the lineup. LB Marcus Smith, who has been battling a hamstring injury, is inactive for the game. T Dennis Kelly, G Josh Andrews, DE Brandon Bair, QB Stephen Morris, RB Kenjon Barner and DB Denzel Rice are also inactive for Philly. The Falcons ruled out WR Devin Hester and LB Brooks Reed over the weekend. WR Justin Hardy, CB Dez Southward, LB Joplo Bartu, C Gino Gradkowski and T Bryce Harris join them on the inactive list.
