The Facts: Monday was another efficient and mistake-free practice for Mariota, who finished 11-for-15 in combined seven-on-seven and team drills. He went without an interception for the fourth straight practice, and he’s now the only quarterback in camp who hasn’t thrown an interception.
Diehards Line:
Unofficially, Mariota is 49-for-73 (67 percent) in the combined drills after four days. While drills obviously aren’t the same as game conditions, he’s still off to a pretty good start. According to Tennessean staffer Jim Wyatt, the only session in which Mariota seemed to struggle a bit was during seven-on-seven in the red zone, when he was 1-for-4. He missed Harry Douglas on a slant, and he was unable to connect with a well-covered Kendall Wright in the back of the end zone. But Mariota bounced right back in a red-zone team drill by going 3-for-3. He hit Craig Stevens on a short play-action pass, scooped up a low snap and connected with Douglas on a slant, and then rolled right to hit Wright in the corner of the end zone. Still, Mariota's ability to avoid mistakes early on is encouraging.
