The Facts: Nicks has put together a string of impressive plays early training camp performance. He’s run precise patterns, displayed good hands and shown the ability to get open on the sidelines or in the middle of the field. “I feel like I definitely have a chip on my shoulder,” Nicks said. “But more than wanting to prove anything to the world, I just want to prove it to this team and my coaches, for giving me the opportunity to come here and prove myself.”
Diehards Line:
A former first-round pick who’s seen his numbers decline over the past three years, Tennessean staffer John Glennon advised readers that Nicks -- signed as a free-agent during the offseason -- looks like he’s doing everything possible to get his career back on track. Nicks looked as if he’d have a great chance at rebounding last year in Indianapolis, but he wasn’t a good fit for Colts OC Pep Hamilton’s system. Hence the move to the Titans, where Nicks believes he will be a much better fit. The Titans appear to be giving the 6-1, 208-pound Nicks every opportunity to show his form of yesteryear, as he and Kendall Wright have earned the bulk of first-team reps early in camp. Nicks has responded with a steady display of good catches. We'll be watching for more in coming weeks.
