The Facts: Having been serenaded with chants of "Brady! Brady!" at various points, Brady delivered the "wow" moment of practice when he hauled in a one-handed catch from receiver Julian Edelman and then raced to the pylon to outstretch the ball over the goal-line for a touchdown. Brady caught the ball with his right hand and then switched to his left as he reached out.
Diehards Line:
Brady, as expected, took all the first-team repetitions in practice, followed by backup Jimmy Garoppolo. But overall, they both got in a lot of work, at one point working side by side in 11-on-11 drills on adjacent fields. Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, who tracks passing stats in practice, had Brady 27-of-30, while Garoppolo was 28-of-36. The stats are naturally best kept in context, as they don't always reflect good decision-making and accuracy, or fundamentals, which are two of the main things coaches look for. Although Garoppolo tossed an INT on a bad decision in 7-on-7 drills, he finished strong, connecting on multiple touchdowns, one to TE Rob Gronkowski in the back of the end zone that was particularly impressive. ... We'll want to see more of that given the possibility of Brady missing the first four games -- or not.
