The Facts: The Titans released Greene on Tuesday morning, the team announced.
Diehards Line:
The running back reported to the team after previously skipping voluntary offseason workouts. He was scheduled to make $3.25 million on a three-year, $10 million deal signed in 2013. After back-to-back 1,000-plus-yard seasons with the New York Jets, Greene was a heavy disappointment in two seasons in Tennessee. He complied 687 yards on 171 carries and just six touchdowns in 24 games over two years. Greene was already slotted behind Bishop Sankey and rookie David Cobb. Worth noting, during an appearance with the FootballDiehards on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio this past Saturday, Associated Press reporter Teresa Walker, who covers the team on a daily basis, told listeners Sankey heads into training camp with a firm grasp on the starting spot. We'll see if he can hold it.
