The Facts: According to Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune, Bennett will show up tomorrow for mandatory minicamp, “barring an unforeseen twist.”
Diehards Line:
Bennett has stayed away from voluntary workouts and OTAs because he wants a new contract. But he apparently doesn’t want to pay $72,920 in fines for skipping the mandatory minicamp which convenes tomorrow, or else the Bears have given him reason to think playing nice will pay off. Bennett was a Pro Bowler last year, and has two years left on his contract worth $10.085 million. Of course, he’d prefer to have more of that guaranteed, leading him to skip the last eight weeks of work.
