The Facts: Chris Russell of ESPN 980 reports that HC Jay Gruden said Monday that Reed had a “procedure” on his knee and that he will be out for the rest of the team’s offseason program.
Diehards Line:
We first heard last week that Reed was being held out of OTAs because the team was concerned about a knee issue that had been bothering him. Gruden said that the team was sending him to get checked out by doctors after complaints of knee soreness. Those examinations have been done and it seems Reed needed a little bit more than rest and relaxation before he was ready to get back on the field. According to PFT, he’s expected to be ready for training camp, but the Redskins -- and fantasy owners -- would be forgiven for taking any timetables for Reed’s return to full health with a grain of salt since they’ve seen him injured quite a bit during his two-plus years with the team. The 2013 third-round pick has missed 12 games the last two seasons and it looks like 2015 has gotten off on the wrong foot as well.
