The Facts: Wright doesn't have ruffled feathers just because the Titans plucked a Duck in the NFL draft. The team's fourth-year receiver said on Thursday he's looking forward to playing with former Oregon QB Marcus Mariota, while also offering an explanation for his -- and receiver Justin Hunter's -- unenthusiastic reaction to the team's pick the night of the draft. "I have no reason to be upset," Wright said. "Me personally, I have nothing against Marcus Mariota. I have nothing against the pick. Period. You knew who it was going to be, so there was nothing to get excited about it."
Diehards Line:
On the first night of the draft, a 13-second video emerged showing Wright and Hunter reacting to the Titans picking Mariota while the two players were attending a draft party at LP Field. When NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell read Mariota's name as the second overall pick, Hunter immediately sat down; Wright smiled and shook his head. The immediate verdict on social media: Wright and Hunter weren't on board with the selection. Wright said Hunter sat down because he'd just lost a bet to Wright. "I am definitely giving Mariota a chance," Wright said. Hunter subsequently said he was looking forward to the competition between Mariota and Zach Mettenberger. "You can't forget Zach," Hunter said. "He's a good quarterback, too. So there will be a lot of competition there." And there will be some in Hunter's future as well.
