The Facts: Crabtree admitted he has a chip on his shoulder after a frustrating free-agency experience left him with a one-year, prove-it deal that guarantees him only $1.3 million. “I have a lot to prove,” Crabtree said. “A lot to prove. Ain’t got nothing to lose and have a lot to prove.”
Diehards Line:Crabtree caught 85 passes for 1,105 yards and nine touchdowns to help San Francisco reach the Super Bowl three years ago but was slowed by injuries the past two seasons. That prompted critics to suggest that Crabtree, who had 68 catches for 698 yards last season, didn’t look like an explosive receiver the past couple of years. There is a reason for that: He tore his Achilles in 2013 and has had two surgeries on his left foot since 2009. Nobody should expect a sudden turnaround now that Crabtree is in Oakland; but that doesn't mean he isn't worth watching as a possible value play this summer.
