The Facts: Crabtree is headed to the other side of the Bay. The wide receiver announced on Twitter on Monday night that he's joining the Raiders. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports it's a one-year deal, per a source informed of the player's situation.
Diehards Line:
Rapoport added that Crabtree is expected to arrive in Oakland on Wednesday to take a physical and sign the deal. Crabtree, a 2009 first-round pick who spent his first six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, visited with the Raiders and Dolphins this offseason. The Raiders made sense as a suitor. The team was unable to land free-agent targets like Randall Cobb and Jeremy Maclin. Crabtree was then targeted as an acceptable fallback option. The Raiders' depth chart also includes James Jones, Rod Streater and Andre Holmes, all returning players from a season ago. Still just 27, Crabtree should find a prominent role in an offense led by promising second-year quarterback Derek Carr. Whether he can regain his old burst and find a fit in Oakland's locker room remains to be seen.
