The Facts: Chip Kelly is adding another wideout to his receiving corps. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the Austin has agreed to a one-year deal worth $2.3 million in base salary with the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a source informed of the situation. Austin can make another $700,000 in incentives, Rapoport added.
Diehards Line:
The 30-year-old wideout played in 12 games, starting 11, for the Cleveland Browns last season before being placed on injured reserve with a kidney injury. Austin caught 47 passes for 568 yards and two touchdowns in 2014. The former Dallas Cowboys receiver has dealt with injuries -- including persistent hamstring troubles -- that have sidetracked his career following back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2009 and 2010. It's not clear where Austin fits in with a group currently led by Jordan Matthews, Josh Huff and Riley Cooper. But nobody should expect Austin to play more than a complimentary role.
