The Facts: According to USA Today's Tom Pelissero, GM Rick Spielman told Peterson's agent, Ben Dogra, Wednesday night that the team won't release him.
Diehards Line:It's not a huge surprise his release is off the table. Peterson is still one of the most talented rushers in the game. And he appears to be quite ready to hit the field, according to at least one teammate and Yahoo! Sports' Charles Robinson, who advised his Twitter followers it looks like Peterson "has lived in the gym the last six months. His arms look like he could rip a keg in half. ..." So, as Profootballtalk.com's Curtis Crabtree suggested, releasing Peterson without getting anything in return doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. However, Peterson accounting for over $15 million in cap room next season isn’t exactly ideal for Minnesota either. His prohibitive contract also will create problems for any team looking to trade for Peterson as well.
