The Facts: The Detroit Lions have their backup quarterback for the 2015 season.
Diehards Line:Orlovsky, who signed a one-year deal to be Matthew Stafford’s backup last season, has re-upped with the team on another one-year deal for next season.
Orlovsky didn’t take a single snap in 2014, but HC Jim Caldwell referred to him as a “good wingman” during the season. Orlovsky, 31, is a veteran quarterback who’s had previous stints with Detroit, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis and Houston. The Lions don't plan to tender a restricted free agent tag on quarterback Kellen Moore, but Lions general manager Martin Mayhew told local reporters at the Combine that he’d like to have him back as well. The Lions kept Stafford, Orlovsky and Moore on the 53-man roster out of training camp last year. Orlovsky has a career record of 2-10 and has passed for 2,931 yards with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 58.5 percent of his passes.
