The Facts: Following up on the ongoing story. ... On Thursday, GM John Schneider said that he wouldn't be surprised if Lynch retired. We'd disagree, because the Seahawks have shown a willingness to give Lynch more money. "We've had big offers out there," HC Pete Carroll said Friday. "We continue to work with that and we're excited about the future. He's been an integral part of our program for five years we love the contributions that he's brought. He's a great character in the program and all of that. So we're excited to move ahead. We'd really like to move with that quickly."
Diehards Line:
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Super Bowl Sunday that the Seahawks are willing to give Lynch more than $10 million in 2015 alone. That's a big pay bump from his scheduled $7 million. While Lynch has back problems that could threaten his future, these decisions usually come down to money. And the Seahawks are ready to make Lynch one of the two highest paid running backs in the league. As NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal summed up, "This issue could drag deep into the offseason if Lynch wants a way to avoid offseason workouts, but it would be a surprise if he wasn't starting for the Seahawks in Week 1."
