The Facts: There were suggestions this week that Robert Griffin III might get another chance to start at quarterback this season, but it won’t come next week. HC Jay Gruden didn’t feel the need to wait for a chance to review the film before deciding on the Redskins’ starter for their Week 14 game against the Rams. Gruden said after Sunday’s 49-27 loss to the Colts that Colt McCoy would start again. “Yes. I feel like he competed and did a good job out there. He came back and gave us a chance,” Gruden said in his post-game press conference.
Diehards Line:
McCoy finished the day 31-of-47 for 392 yards and three touchdowns, one of which came as a result of some timely improvisation from McCoy under pressure before he found Logan Paulsen for a touchdown. The scores kept the Colts from putting the game away until well into the third quarter, but they did put it away, obviously. He also failed to move the team at all during the first half when gifted with three turnovers and lost a fumble that the Colts returned for a touchdown that pretty much iced the game for good before doing some padding of his stats in the fourth quarter. As PFT suggests, however, the mixed bag was certainly better than what they got from Griffin over the last two weeks and well worth seeing against St. Louis.
