The Facts: Josh McCown is healthy and served as the backup to Glennon on Sunday and Bucs HC Lovie Smith said Monday that things will remain that way. “If we were going to make a change, I wouldn’t talk about it an awful lot, but the plan isn’t for that,” Lovie said, via JoeBucsFan.com. “I thought Mike did some good things yesterday. You’d always like to have a couple of plays back, but you know, the first thing I thought about as far as improving our ball club wasn’t, ‘We gotta make a change at the quarterback position.'”
Diehards Line:
As PFT notes, the Buccaneers offense was largely theoretical for the first three quarters of Sunday’s game against the Vikings as they entered the final 15 minutes with just 100 total yards on the day. They were able to gain 125 more yards in the fourth quarter while scoring 13 points that allowed them to briefly take a lead before Minnesota sent the game to overtime and then won it when linebacker Anthony Barr stripped the ball from tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins and returned it for a touchdown. Smith pointed to the offensive line as a place where the Bucs offense needs to improve, but the list is long and unlikely to be erased this season whether Glennon or McCown takes the snaps.
