The Facts: Although Hill, who has finished each of his first two seasons on the injured reserve list due to troublesome knees, only has managed 45 catches for 594 yards and four touchdowns in 23 career games, WRs coach Sanjay Lal doesn’t believe his young pupil is a lost cause. “It’s a little early to label him as a bust,” Lal said. “When I think of bust, I don’t think of him that way. I have seen players who are higher picks that were busts because of their own laziness. Those are busts.”
Diehards Line:
As the Daily News reminded readers, the Jets have invested a great deal of time with Hill, who was the sixth wideout taken in the 2012 draft. The Bears, of course, took budding star Alshon Jeffrey two picks after the Jets traded up for Hill in the second round, magnifying what appears to be a glaring mistake by New York. Hill had five receptions for 89 yards and two touchdowns in his first career game before being plagued by inconsistency and injury. He has averaged only 1.8 catches and 23 yards since the 2012 season-opening performance against the Bills. “The learning curve has been steep,” Lal admitted. “We haven’t had the chance to rep it like we would (like to). So am I disappointed? On some level, yeah. I’m not disappointed in him, because I know he’s given it his all. ..." That will be of little interest to fantasy owners who will point to Hill's injury history and an 11.1 percent drop rate in 12 games last season as reason enough to be disappointed in Hill.
