The Facts: The Cardinals have waived Williams, according to Darren Urban of azcardinals.com.
Diehards Line:
Urban notes that the move saves the Cardinals $1 million in salary cap space. ... The No. 38 overall pick of the 2011 draft out of Virginia Tech, injuries have limited Williams to only five career appearances. He missed his entire rookie year with a ruptured right patellar tendon, and got into only five games his second season before a shoulder injury sent him to injured reserve. He was a non-factor in 2013, failing to make his way onto the field at all last year. ... It'll be interesting to see if anybody takes a chance on his as a reclamation project. Meanwhile, the Cardinals will roll with a committee led by Andre Ellington, who will be joined by Stepfan Taylor and Jonathan Dwyer.
