The Facts: Greene recently underwent surgery on his right knee, according to sources familiar with the situation, and is expected to be held out the remainder of the team's organized team activities this offseason. The Titans hold the bulk of their on-field activities in June. Greene is expected to be back for the start of training camp in late July.
Diehards Line:
Greene took part in the team's three-day mini-camp recently, but complained of soreness and suffered some knee swelling afterward, sources say. Trainers and doctors elected to have the knee scoped again rather than wait any longer. According to Tennessean staffer Jim Wyatt, it's the same knee Greene had arthroscopic surgery on this past September, which resulted in him missing five games during the 2013 season. Greene was injured during the Titans season-opener last year at Pittsburgh. Greene ran for 295 yards and four touchdowns in 2013, his first year with the Titans, after signing a three-year, $10 million deal last offseason. With the Jets, Greene played in 61 of 64 games over four seasons, including all 16 games in 2011 and 2012. The Titans drafted Washington running back Bishop Sankey in the second round of the NFL Draft, and the team also has running backs Leon Washington, Jackie Battle and Dexter McCluster, who played previously with the Chiefs.
