The Facts: Daniels visited with the Packers this week, but his chances of landing in Green Bay took a hit when the team re-signed Andrew Quarless. Daniels is moving on to a meeting with the Redskins, according to Adam Caplan of ESPN.com.
Diehards Line:
It’s the second reported visit for Daniels since he was dropped by the Texans after eight seasons in Houston. The Redskins have Jordan Reed set for the starting tight end spot, but Fred Davis is gone and Daniels’ arrival would allow the team the option of going with two tight ends with good receiving skills at the same time. As PFT's Josh Alper suggests, those skills don’t really overlap as Reed’s more athletic than Daniels, but Daniels would be a reliable target on third downs for Robert Griffin III. The team already added former Cardinal Andre Roberts to the receiving corps and re-signed Santana Moss. Even if they don't land Daniels is not hard to see what the goal is.
