GM Mike Tannenbaum is not ruling out Edwards' return to the team, according to Bob Glauber of Newsday. Tannenbaum cited Edwards' intense practice habits as one of his best attributes saying, "I would not rule him out. ..."

Tannenbaum added: "I don't expect us to sign anybody before the draft. We'll see where that goes heading into May and June. ..." Still, Edwards was a central part of the Jets' aerial attack during the 2009 and 2010 seasons when the Jets made back-to-back AFC Championship Game appearances.
