The Facts: Holt isn’t ready to hang ’em up. Not yet, anyway. Although the veteran wide receiver sat out last season and did some work for NFL Network, he told Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he’d like to play in 2011. Holt has been helping out at the informal player-run practices the St. Louis Rams are holding this week at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo. “I haven't retired,” Holt said. “I'm going to continue to keep my options open. I'm training right now. So if something comes about — great. If not, hey, the NFL Network has been good to me. They gave me an opportunity to talk football, stay around the game. We'll see.”
Diehards Line:Potentially a Hall of Famer one day, Holt played for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2009 and was signed by the New England Patriots last April. A knee injury in August ended his stay there. That’s going to be one of the obstacles he’ll face if he gets serious about a comeback. Teams are going to be cautious when it comes to his health. But Holt says a cleanout of the knee in February by Dr. James Andrews has him confident about his future. That doesn't mean Fantasy Football owners should share in that confidence. At the very least, a wait-and-see approach is recommended.
