The Facts: The Redskins plan to place Portis, who recently aggravated his groin injury, on season-ending injured reserve, two people with knowledge of the situation said Wednesday.
Diehards Line:The problem occurred during Sunday's 19-16 overtime victory against the Tennessee Titans. Portis, who initially suffered a third-degree groin tear in Week 4 against Philadelphia, was re-injured early Sunday when a Titans defensive player grabbed and pulled his leg. Portis also was placed on injured reserve last season after suffering a concussion. In a radio interview Tueesday, Portis said an MRI exam revealed no further damage and that he hoped to play Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings at FedEx Field. But the team plans to end Portis's season. With Ryan Torain (hamstring) still hurting, Keiland Williams and James Davis are the top two back on the roster.
