The Facts: One day before the new NFL year starts, the Bengals wasted no time Thursday when they moved past the Coles' signing and cut the 32-year-old wide receiver.
Diehards Line:According to Bengals.com staffer Geoff Hobson, that may or may not put the Bengals in play in the unrestricted free agent market for a receiver in bidding that starts Friday. Coles' struggles in his only year with the club (43 catches, 514 yards, five touchdowns) don't bode well for elderly wide receivers in stripes. As Hobson suggested, Terrell Owens (36), Josh Reed (30), Antonio Bryant (29) look to be too combustible or too old or both. Even though they let go Kevin Walter, 27, four years ago, Hobson believes maybe they'll try him again.
