The Facts: The Lions have officially placed Kitna on the injured reserve list. The announcement came five minutes after the 4 p.m. trading deadline passed.
Diehards Line:Kitna suffered a back injury in the first half of the Lions’ 34-7 loss to Chicago two weeks ago and did not play in Sunday’s loss to Minnesota. The 36-year-old Kitna, who reportedly has muscular damage in his lower back, has passed for 758 yards with five touchdowns and five interceptions this season. The Lions (0-5) likely will stick with Dan Orlovsky, who was 12-of-21 for 150 yards on Sunday -- but Drew Stanton could emerge as an option at some point.
