AAA 400
September 26, 2010 (Sunday)

Jimmie Johnson – 2009 AAA 400 winner!
A friend of
my once asked me how I come up with different topics to discuss every race
weekend and how I keep each NASCAR fantasy article from looking like the week
before and the week before that. I
simply explained that there is always something going on in NASCAR. Sometimes the news can be something minor
like Champion World Truck Series driver tested positive for uncontrolled
substance and is suspended indefinitely or something major like last week’s
race winner at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) Clint
Bowyer being smacked down from his second place tier of the points standing
because he CHEATED. Not to mention that Clint,
his Crew Chief Shane Wilson, and team owner Richard Childress all being put in
time-out for the six races and fined.
Clint spoke out in a press conference about the indiscretion and how he
supports his team and that the integrity of the team never wavered. A week ago, Clint was abandoning all
knowledge of any wrong doing as if he were the victim of a malicious trick and
his win at NHMS was honest and no fault of
his own. Way to be a team player
#33. Oh, I’m sorry didn’t you think that
having a winless streak for over 80 races may tell you something that your team
had to cheat to get you a win. Appeal to
the stupidity of your brain and realize RCR crossed a fine line and don’t
embarrass yourself by appealing to NASCAR.
I don’t mind bending rules, but if you get caught; admit it. Don’t hold a press conference whining about
you innocence and don’t appeal the judgment to get turn down again and
humiliate yourself yet again.
All
Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) drivers have a chance this weekend to take the
checkered flag. Part team owner and
teammate Tony Stewart is the only driver in the
SHR stable to be in the chase. His
performance this weekend at Dover International Speedway (DIS) will surely move
Tony up in the point standings at least into the Top 7. Tony finished in the 9th position his last
two races at DIS. There are a couple
drivers ahead in the standings of Tony like Jimmie
Johnson or Kurt Busch and Kyle Busch who
may fair better. Ryan Newman who rounds out the roster at SHR is a non-Cup contender
but taking points away from Cuppers won't stop Ryan from vying for the
win. I have and will always say that
Ryan puts on the best show at Dover.
Matt Kenseth squeaked into
the chase without much media coverage, but he has been in the chase before and
has even taking home the Cup. Matt's
consistency at DIS is unfathomable; especially with finishing in the Top 3 both
of his last two races at Dover. Leader board on Lap 400: 14, 48, 17, 39, 2
and 18.
