Denny Hamlin – 2010 Heluva
Good!
Sour Cream Dips 400 winner!
Congratulations to Jeff Gordon and his wife Ingrid on the birth of their
son Leo Benjamin Gordon. The first thing
that came to my mind and I am sure on every mind in NASCAR Nation was whether
or not we would see Leo on a NASCAR track in about 16 years. Well, Jeff is 39 years old this year, so unless
he follows in the footsteps of Mark Martin, I
don’t think little Leo is going to see much of his dad in action.
More good news to
report. Jack Roush was released
from the hospital after his terrifying plane crash. I am not sure if Jack is expected to make an
appearance this weekend at Michigan International Speedway (MIS), but I am sure
glad that he will be returning to the circuit in the near future. It just may take him a lot longer to get from
location to location because if I were him, I would be bussing it.
I promised a friend of mine that is
a really big Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan that given
his willingness to move forward and his love of the sport that Dale would
definitely make it into the chase for the 2010 season. He may squeak in, but I assuredly said he
would make it. With four races left in
the chase, I still think he can do it since Dale’s performance at Michigan gave him at Top
Ten his last two races there. Dale’s
fight for the chase is going to mimic the one that Kyle
Busch faced in the 2009 season, but unfortunately for Kyle, he missed
the chase by a mere eight points. Let us
hope that Dale is on the flip side of that kind of situation.
Big dreams and high hopes
surrounded Denny Hamlin this season as the
potential thorn in the side of the four-time defending champion Jimmie Johnson and the outlook seemed promising. The success of the #11 however, has been
strained a bit and the road to the Cup trophy a little marred. Denny can make some ground this Sunday by
reliving his win from the June race of this year. Denny’s teammate and youngest driver in the
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Joey Logano
is returning to a track that has shown him some loyalty. Out of only three starts, Joey has compiled
two Top Fives. Slice bread still taste
good.
Oh and if you haven’t figured it
out already, it’s Friday the 13th and as many of the NASCAR Nation
fans know, NASCAR drivers are some of the most superstitious athletes in the
world. Qualifying today is going to put
a lot of the drivers on edge because whatever happens today will convey over
into Sunday.
