Six races to go including this one at Pocono Raceway (PR) this weekend and the chase field will be set.  Only a few drivers have the wins and the consistency at this point to make it in.  Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Kurt Busch, and Carl Edwards are all posed to make it into the 2009 Chase for the Championship Cup as long as they continue to run well and do just what they have been doing the last twenty races.  Even with a few bumps and bruised stock cars, these drivers should still have enough of a lead in the points to remain in contention.  With tweleve spots up for grab, a lot of drivers are content with their performance and standing in the chase and other are scrambling to get a chance to compete for the coveted Cup.  If you check out the results for the last two races at PR, you will notice that four of the five drivers slotted in the chase all have Top 10 finishes.  Bad news for Kurt Busch, he has been horrible at PR for the last two races finishing 37th and 38th; respectively.  Kurt will definately drop from 5th in the standings to 7th or worse if he can’t find the right mixture to make it work at PR.  The number #2 needs to watch himself this Sunday and hope for a better outcome than what he has exhibited the last two races at the tri-oval.  Maybe Kurt’s impending birthday will give him the mojo that  he needs.  Happy 31st Kurt. (8/4)  Oh, and birthday wishes to Jeff Gordon as well who shares the same birthdate.  Happy 38th Jeff.

I am going out on the perverbial limb and giving Denny Hamlin one more chance at PR.  I just can’t believe that a guy with five straight Top 10’s including two wins could just loose whatever it was that made him great at the PA Superspeedway.  It’s not gone Denny; you just have to do some real tough searching and go find it for this weekend’s race.
