A driver took the checkered flag last Sunday at Infineon that no one expected to; Kasey Kahne.  Richard Petty Motorsports finally visited Victory lane again since 1999 thanks to the #9 car and the expertise of a dirt track racer from Washington.  Kasey said that road courses were something that he just couldn’t get his mind wrapped around because it defied all that he had learned on the dirt.  Just goes to show that it doesn’t matter the track, the Budweiser Dodge likes them all.  However, there is speculation about a manufacturer change because of GM’s finanicial situation.  Please don’t go Toyota.

Wow, looking back at the results from last season’s race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS), I forget that Kurt Busch (The older Busch brother) actually won a race last year.  It may have been because of a rained out race, but a win is a win.  Is New Hampshire expecting a repeat of the weather this Sunday?  The Weather Channel says, “Sunday: Scattered thunderstorms possible. Highs in the mid 70s and lows in the low 60s.”  Kurt may have been handed the checkered flag last year, but Kurt does have two other wins of his own at New Hampshire.

So, we talked about Denny Hamlin trying to make Pocono a track of his own, but fell short because of Toyota woes.  Denny may have a replacement track in NHMS.  Denny is right on top with the best average finish of 7.2.  Denny scraped up a win in the spring race of 2007 and finished 8th for the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 last June.  Denny’s luck may prove against his history at NHMS, but only Sunday will tell.

Martin Turex Jr. is hoping to get back into the Top 10.  Martin has four Top 10’s in a really short stint at New Hampshire of only six starts.  A Top 5 is where Martin finished last season in June.

The driver with the most wins (4) and with some breath taking stats is Jeff Burton.  Out of a whoopping 28 starts, Jeff has only three DNFs.  And two of those are attributed to engine issues that were out of his control.  I belived NHMS is a track that Jeff might like personally.
