Joey Logano - 2009 Lenox Industrial Tools 301 Winner!

Jimmie Johnson stole the thunder from down under last Sunday at Infineon Raceway (IR) by being at the right place at the right time when Marcos Ambrose took a win ending order from his crew chief.  I think there should be some kind of “reorganization” at JTG Daugherty Racing.  Frank Kerr, crew chief for the #47 actually received an award following the race for being the NASCAR® MOOG® “Problem Solver of the Week.”  The only problem Frank solved was how to dominate an entire race and blow his driver’s first win because of gas conservation.  I just keep shaking my head a lot.  I can’t quite figure it all out.

Teammate to Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, made his own new and waves of enemies during the race last weekend by being stingy and aggressive with each turn and each inch of open real estate at IR.  I think it is about time.  If Jeff Gordon wants to strive for his 5th Championship, he needs to take every position he can get on a track.  Jeff’s behavior is a bit out of the norm, but I hope to see more of it because it made Sunday racing that much more intense.  His success last weekend might turn into a DNF at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) since a handful of other drivers have put a virtual target on the #24.

Make way for a late season charge for Tony Stewart who doesn’t care if he makes waves and usually ends this East coast race in the Top Ten.  It will be nice to see Tony running strong on Sunday.  Tony’s early domination and late race charges make each lap exciting.

As for the rest of the field at Loudon, just fall in behind one of the Busch brothers who will be racing each other for a spot in the Top 5.  Both Kurt Busch and Kyle Busch finished the last two races at NHMS in the Top Ten and they finished right behind each other in the September race.  I was just thinking, wouldn’t it be surreal to have twin brothers racing in the same series in NASCAR?

Here is an odd tidbit of hidden signs to sports theorist.  Let us take a look at the initials of the four-time champion Jimmie “JJ” Johnson.  With a little stretch of the imagination, if you slide the right-handed initial “J” over the reversed left-handed initial “J” and overlap the bottom of the curves you can create a slender “horseshoe.”  Lucky!  Other drivers always said he had to have one stuck where the sun don’t shine.  Take the right-handed initial “J” and move it over to touch the reversed left-handed initial “J” and you made a “W” for “Win”.  And the spookiest one of all; Invert the reversed left-handed initial “J” and slide it over to meet the tips of the right-handed initial “J” and voila you have the shape of an oval track.  Jimmie Johnson was born and named to be a NASCAR champion.  He will prove these theories right by winning again this Sunday at NHMS.
