Don’t worry NASCAR Nation, I
checked and the weather forecast for Dover International Speedway (DIS) is
clear for the Saturday and Sunday this weekend, but a chance of thunderstorms
on Friday sometime in the afternoon. The
Camping World Truck Series may be delayed a bit to get the track dry, but I think
all races this weekend will be getting in.
Thank you Mother Nature.
So, what do you think is going to
happen this Sunday since Kyle Busch was denied
his win by the rained out Coca-Cola 600?
Kyle Busch will be defending his win from last season at DIS and will be
doing all he can to add another win to his record for 2009. There are just a few drivers who will be
giving the #18 chase and vying for a win themselves. Carl Edwards
is a driver who holds the best average finish at DIS (7.7) and barely missed
first place last season by finishing second.
He hasn’t finished great in the last three races, but Ryan Newman is a driver that is always in contention
for the pole at Dover
and puts on an amazing show during the race.
400 laps and 400 miles and there are only a few drivers that have made Dover a track that they
have beaten; Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, and Bill Elliott
have all taken home four wins at the Monster Mile. Bill Elliott however, is not on the entry
list for Dover
this weekend, so the DIS’s greats are reduced by
one.
In Nationwide news, there is going
to be a third generation Earnhardt attempting to tame the monster mile at DIS this
Saturday for Rick Ware Racing (RWR) in the number 31 Chevrolet. If you ask me, there can never be enough Earnhardts in NASCAR.
Jeffrey Earnhardt, son of Kerry Earnhardt, nephew to Dale
Earnhardt Jr., and grandson to Dale Earnhardt
will be making his first attempt at a Nationwide
race. I can’t wait until we get the
chance to see Dale Earnhardt II driving for his daddy’s company; JR Motorsports. I wish Jeffrey all the luck in the world and
I hope to see him full-time in 2010. I
have to mention too that Kerry Earnhardt will also be putting himself in the
driver’s seat again this season working for RWR.
