Bristol Backlash
The bad thing about Bristol
and any other high-banked, restrictor plated track is that regardless of a
driver’s talent, his final resting place at the end of the race is contingent
on whether that driver can avoid or be spared the involvement of an inevitable
wreck. So, any driver that you decide or
I decide to be in contention for a good show this Sunday at Bristol Motor
Speedway (BMS) will be a potential victim of Bristol’s sheet metal butchery.
Finishers

Jeff Gordon
Hendrick Motorsports – Chevrolet
Point Standings: 1st
Here are two words for Dale Jr.’s
teammate that he has probably heard all too often lately; second place. I don’t think that Jeff has it in him yet to
take the checkered flag, especially at Bristol,
but it is definitely on the horizon.
Jeff will make a nice run for the front if he is close enough and has
his teammates to help, but his #24 will not have the steam to make it on its
own.

Kevin Harvick
Richard Childress Racing -
Chevrolet
Point Standings: 8th
There has to be some sort of secret formula that Richard
Childress has been keeping to himself at RCR.
It may seem like a coincidence, but Dale Earnhardt himself was a driver
who was either leading, in the garage, or sneaky up to the front to win a race
with a few laps to go. It seems as
though Kevin has been taught the secret art form master Childress too. If Kevin can finish the majority of the race
unscathed, then watch him sneak up and fight for top places with less than ten
laps to go.

Greg Biffle
Roush Fenway Racing – Ford
Point Standings: 10th
Greg is the biggest underdog of
every race if there ever was one. And I
mean that with the upmost respect. When
Greg has the potential to do something with his car at a track, he makes
watching that race eventful until the inevitable something that ruins his
run. Greg is usually fighting to do
something with a horrible race car, but when he does you know he is fighting
with all he’s got all the way. Greg may
be the underdog to watch this Sunday and surprise us with a Top five finish
like he did last Spring.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Hendrick Motorsports – Chevrolet
Point Standings: 24th
Three things that need to be said about
this driver and this weekend’s race.
Tennessee, high banking, and restrictor plates. Dale’s trifecta
of happiness.
Contenders

Matt Kenseth
Roush Fenway Racing – Ford
Point Standings: 5th
I hope that Matt’s marvelous run at the beginning of the
season wasn’t just Season 2009 beginner’s luck.
Matt’s fan would contest to that fact, but seeing is
believing and Matt may be racing for the win or facing the reality of
the garage after a run in on the track.

Kyle Busch
Joe Gibbs Racing – Toyota
Point Standings: 7th
Kyle is ready to put his Busch name back in the spot light
this Sunday. Plus, since Kyle runs the
Camping World truck and Nationwide Series most of the time, he will be more
than prepared to spank the competition this weekend. If you are only a watcher of the Sprint Cup
races, I highly recommend tuning into any race he drives in.

“If more and more sponsors bail out of auto racing;
is NASCAR doomed to become extinct?”
Marty – Michigan
NASCAR Nation may see a lot of sponsors scaling back
the amount of funding they provide for a team, but for all sponsors to jump
ship; will be a cold day in hell.
