Finishers
Carl Edwards
Roush Fenway Racing –
Ford
Point Standings: 9th
|
|

Fuel strategy is going to be one
of the key things to make it to the finish line in the Top five and Carl is just
the driver that can conserve gas better than any other driver on the
track. It is still speculated how he
does it, but if his fuel cell reads six to nine more miles left, Carl will make
it twelve.
Jimmie Johnson
Hendrick Motorsports -
Chevrolet
Point Standings: 19th
|
|

Perhaps Atlanta
is the track that Jimmie can perform like we are used to seeing so he can get
the preverbal “monkey” reporters off his back about not sweeping the season so
far. Jimmies managed to finish
thirteenth last spring, but he does have a remarkable average finish and the
best in the league of ninth place.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Hendrick Motorsports –
Chevrolet
Point Standings: 29th
|
|

Dale and Kasey Kahne are two drivers that are known for
preferring the top line at short tracks.
The drivers will start the race favoring the low line, but once the race
is well underway, low lines will fade and the top of the track is where drivers
will want to race. And that is exactly
where you will find Dale; comfortable next to the wall and riding up front.

Tony Stewart
Stewart-Haas Racing -
Chevrolet
Point Standings: 8th
|
|

I have never seen Tony this happy and stressed all at the
same time. There is something special
about a driver owned team that puts that driver/owner closer to the hearts of race
fans. If you watch him, Tony has this
air of confidence that could be detrimental to the other drivers on the track
this weekend. Tony may be in a new car,
on a new team, and under a new team name, but he is the same driver that
finished second in last spring’s race.
AJ Allmendinger
Richard Petty Motorsports
- Dodge
Point Standings: 21st
|
|

It looks like AJ is the driver at Richard Petty Motorsports
that is getting reporters and commentators to talk about the newly formed
organization. Kasey Kahne is still my
favorite. AJ’s only been to Atlanta a
handful of times, but he is consistently keeping it close to the Top fifteen
and if you know AMS, then you know it is a fickle track where one race you’re a
contender and the next race you’re a lapped down blunder.

“How is it that you knew Matt Kenseth wasn’t going to
make it three wins in a row?”
Pete – Missouri
I am not a gambling person, but just check out the
odds and there is a reason why a driver hasn’t won the first three races in
a season; it is just too far fetched to happen. But never say never.
