Kyle Busch - 2009 Shelby 427 Winner!
Everyone
raise their hands in agreement when I say, "NASCAR should race at California only one time
a season for the Sprint Cup series."
If I didn't like NASCAR so much I might have been tempted to change the
channel last Sunday when I sat through the snore fest of the Auto Club
500. Drivers may say that racing in Cali
brings out celebrities, they really like the racing the track offers, and it
host the hometown of some of NASCAR's more famous drivers (Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson),
but Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LMS) does the exact same thing and it is only
visited once per season. This Sunday, I
guarantee NASCAR Nation will be more satisfied with their racing experience.
The only cars you need to watch for
this weekend to lead the pack is any of the Richard Childress Racing (RCR)
drivers and anyone with the last name of Busch.
All the RCR drivers finished in the Top twelve last
March at LMS. RCR's
lead driver Kevin Harvick (Jeff Burton
and Kevin Harvick are tied with each having 15 career
wins, but Kevin is showing the most promise this season) is coming up on the
third race of the season positioned 1st in points already, but with a big donut
in his win column. The driver of the #29
car has been cheated out of a career making win at Daytona and a should have
been follow up win at California. Kevin
is from California
and he has just as good of a chance to take the checkered flag last Sunday as
Jimmie Johnson. When gamblers play the
slots, they generally stay put betting that it will eventually pay off and that
is exactly what is going to happen for Kevin Harvick
this weekend. Kevin is going to stay
with his racing strategy and let it ride until the last few laps of the race then
cash in on the last lap.
Las Vegas is the birth place of both of the
Busch drivers and even though each brother has a fair chance of winning the
Shelby American, the younger brother Kyle Busch
holds the best average finish of the Busch brothers (5.2) and all active
drivers at LMS too.
When drivers race and win at their
hometown track, it's like their own personal Daytona 500.
