Finishers
Matt Kenseth
Roush Fenway Racing –
Ford
Point Standings: 1st
|
|

I loved the win for Matt last Sunday at Daytona, but I hate
the rain. NASCAR nation was deprived of
the final lap collision that brings the competition closer together and last
lap passes that take a win from the guy who finished in 2nd
place. Matt has a pretty easy ride
defending his current position in first for the standings. Matt scored finished 5th in the
spring race for 2008 and has the momentum of Daytona keeping him at the top.

Carl Edwards
Roush Fenway Racing –
Ford
Point Standings: 18th
|
|

Carl just didn’t put on any kind
of a show last Sunday at Daytona. I
almost forgot he was even in the race.
Just like his arch nemesis Jimmie Johnson, Carl is a late bloomer and it
takes him a few races to get into the swing of things. Carl does have some love at ACS this Sunday
because he is the guy defending him win from last season.
Jimmie Johnson
Hendrick Motorsports -
Chevrolet
Point Standings: 26th
|
|

It’s only been one race and reporters are speculating a hard
start to Jimmie’s 2009 season, but if you back track a little through the last
three years, Jimmie doesn’t start to take home trophies right out of the gate. Jimmie will quietly do what he always does
and rank up the Top 5 and Top 10 finishes and before we know it, he is in the
Top 10 and points with no end to his success in sight. Jimmie is a fix for a Top 5 this weekend.

Kyle Busch
Joe Gibbs Racing - Toyota
Point Standings: 38th
|
|

I don’t know exactly when Kyle’s going turn on the Rowdy
booster and make some noise this season, but I do know that I will not have to
wait too long. Kyle got a raw deal at
Daytona being slammed into the wall and finishing so far back in the pack we
are still waiting to hear from him. No
one ever said Kyle was great at restrictor plate tracks, but the rest of the
tracks this year are all his. Use Kyle
as a fantasy pick as many times as you can.
AJ Allmendinger
Richard Petty Motorsports
- Dodge
Point Standings: 3rd
|
|
Contenders

It’s a little trying to determine whether or not AJ has what
it takes this entire NASCAR season since he is in the driver’s seat of a Dodge
instead of a Toyota
and driving for a legendary car owner.
Based on AJ’s luck last weekend at Daytona and his limited success at
ACS, he just might have found the perfect match for his 3rd season
in NASCAR. AJ is very close to getting
into the Top 10 at California.

|
David Ragan
Roush Fenway Racing -
Ford
Point Standings: 6th
|
|

It may just be the
number 6 car that is going to give David a successful season this year. It turned Mark Martin into Mr. Consistency
and it just might do the same for David.
David hasn’t reached the Top 10 at ACS, but he consistently finishes
around the Top 15.

“Did Joe Gibbs make a big mistake putting Joey Lagano
into the Sprint series too quickly?”
Dave M. – Pennsylvania
It is too soon to tell, but if you recall the rough
ride that David Ragan had his break out year in 2006, you will know that it
will take some time and a lot of wrecked cars to school the newest rookie.
